Curtain Call is a unique entertainment series created especially for Retirement Communities or areas with a large retirement age population. Curtain call provides shows the audiences like -- at a price they are willing to pay -- with the convenience of smaller venues close to home.
Curtain Call started in 2005 when the new Mesa Arts Center wanted a series to provide shows of interest to their extensive retired population. Past projects at Sun City West had demonstrated a similar need there. The first season’s line up included Ethel Merman’s Broadway starring Rita McKenzie, Mexico’s Three Tenors, Glenn Yarbrough, Unforgettable – The Nat King Cole Story, and In The Mood – a 1940’s Musical. The result was an overwhelming success. Most performances played to capacity audiences.
The following year saw Curtain Call expand to four cities, and now in the 2007~08 season it runs in eight different locations. Each new market means better acts without raising prices or increasing the size of the venues.
